WOSAS 2017 to emphasize calamity preparedness on National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month, an annual campaign aimed at emphasizing the importance of preparedness. With the Philippines ranked as the fourth most disaster-prone country in the world, registering a total of 274 natural calamities between 1995 and 2015, the World of Security and Safety Expo (WOSAS) 2017 aims to highlight anew the importance of preparing for the unexpected.
Preparedness is a necessary first step to take in ensuring security and safety when calamity strikes. In a country like the Philippines, where tropical storms and earthquakes are not uncommon, and where the threat of “The Big One”, a magnitude-7.2 earthquake set to happen within this lifetime, is imminent, the need for preparedness is relevant now more than ever.
This year’s WOSAS will bring over 110 exhibitors to focus on four themed areas, namely, security and surveillance, fire and safety, smart home and building, and energy saving and electric automation. Leaders in security and safety will be present to foster meaningful dialogue in shaping a Philippines that is resilient, invulnerable, and prepared.
In collaboration with JCI Manila, the National Responders’ Challenge will have a meet and greet on the opening day of the event as hundreds of rescue teams will converge in the event in time for their activity this October. Expected to join this event is Department of National Defense Secretary Lorenzana, PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, JCI Manila volunteers and WSI executives.
Organized by Worldbex Services International, the country’s biggest trade show and exhibition organizer, WOSAS 2017 will be held from September 21 to 24 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila. Over 6,000 visitors from 11 different countries are expected to attend the event, co-located with the World of Consumer Electronic Expo (WOCEE) 2017. Interested visitors are invited to pre-register at www.wosas.ph for free admission. For latest updates on WOSAS 2017, follow its social media channels @wosas.ph.
