Tory Burch goes for relaxed looks, bold prints
For Spring-Summer 2018, Tory Burch pays tribute to David Hicks, drawing from the late interior designer’s work consisting of mix and patterns that on the one hand, understated and elegant, and on the other, bold and geometric.
“Weare honored to work with the legendary designer’s original scrapbooks, given to us by his son. Immeasurable thanks to Ashley Hicks for this collaboration,” Burch said. Burch described the collection: Silhouettes: Shapes are relaxed. “Slouchy, wide-legged pants, bohemian caftans and a wrap dress cut from scarves balance preppy shirts and a classic trench for a collection that is feminine and familiar, modern and easy.”
Palette: “Understated neutrals—crisp white, soft stone and toffee—juxtapose joyful bursts of color—poppy red, tangerine and mustard yellow—complemented by leaf green and muted shades of pink and chambray.”
Prints and patterns: “A bold mix of prints and patterns from Hicks (or inspired by his work), including kaleidoscopic and geometric motifs as well as stripes in different iterations and scales. An iris print references Hicks’ love of gardens and a Moroccan-inspired pattern pays homage to his global influences.”
Fabrications: “Draped silk, cashmere and soft crepe; designs crafted from terry beach towels and accessories in natural vachetta. Lace framing on silk and contrast boarders on cotton draw on interior design concepts; sequins, laser-cut elements and fine metal embellishments for dimensionality and texture.
