ALPHA PHI BETA TO HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY AND AWARDING CEREMONIES
The Alpha Phi Beta Fraternity of the University of the Philippines will hold its annual Christmas Party on 29 November 2017 (Wednesday),5PM at the Forbes Park Clubhouse in Makati City. At the same event, APB will recognize this year's recipients of the Blue Blazer Awards, which is given by APB's USA East Coast Chancery in New York to the fraternity's most distinguished alumni.
This year's Blue Blazer Awardees are Benjamin E. Diokno, the current Budget Secretary to President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Renato B. Valdecantos, the former Philippine Regulatory Commissioner, and Biographer/Journalist extraordinaire Nelson A. Navarro. Also, to be awarded posthomously are Abraham F. Sarmiento, Sr., former Supreme Court Justice, Froilan M. Bacungan, former Dean of the U.P. College of Law, and Hermon C. Lagman, martial law hero. Each of the awardees will receive a 2 lbs/10 inch Bronze Trophy and an elegant navy blue blazer with an embroidered APB logo and color emblems, symbolizing nobility and integrity of purpose, career excellence and service to country, university and fraternity.
Founded in 1939, Alpha Phi Beta is regarded as one of the most prestigious fraternities in U.P. It counts among its members Senators Chiz Escudero, Sonny Alvarez and Joey Lina; Congressmen Edcel Lagman, Cesar Sarmiento, Ace Barbers and Bong Belaro; and a host of prominent lawyers, businessmen, engineers and public servants in the Philippines.
The incumbent Alumni Board is headed by Lord Chancellor Joselito "Joboy" Blando, a senior partner at Bonifacio Global City-based law firm Batuhan Blando Concepcion & Trillana.
Vice Chancellors are prominent lawyer Eduardo Robles, Court of Appeals Justice Louis Acosta, and Bulacan politician Ariel Arceo. Other directors are lawyers Servando Timbol, Jr.,Pedro Tanchuling, Medardo De Lemos, Jayson Jorvina, Dominador Solis, Michael Galarosa, Arveen Agunday and Ryan Oliva, along with Edgar Pajaro, Dante Liban and Jose Castigador. The APB USA East Coast Chancery is headed by Chancelor Christian Voltaire "CV" Bautista, while the Blue Blazer Awards Committee is chaired by Dante Raul "DR" Teodoro.
