iPhone X goes on sale with droves of customers trooping to its grand launch midnight party

HUNDREDS swarmed the Power Mac Center in Greenbelt 3 in Makati to be among the first Filipino consumers to get a hold of the iPhone X, the most anticipate­d smartphone that had everyone curious about or drooling over.

Apple’s latest flagship smartphone has created the biggest buzz among fans and technology enthusiast­s because of its beautiful allglass design, exceptiona­l camera, and powerful facial recognitio­n feature.

It officially arrived and went on sale at midnight December 1 at Power Mac Center, the premier Apple reseller in the Philippine­s.

Power Mac Center prepared the grand midnight launch party to welcome the official arrival of the iPhone X and give customers the exclusive opportunit­y to be the first to get their hands on the newest Apple device described as the best iPhone yet.

Customers not only got to take part in an exciting shopping event, but also enjoyed treats and entertainm­ent as they waited patiently for the arrival of the iPhone X in the country.

iPhone X customers started trooping to the Power Mac Center early evening November 30 and started queuing at 10 AM to have have their names listed by store personnel. As they patiently waited for the official selling of the iPhone X at 12 midnight, they were given Camper’s Kit treats and a quick discussion about iPhone X and iOS 11.

Nearing midnight, as people formed longer lines, the event turned into a shopping party as DJ Callum began hyping the excited crowd with his live mixes. Several celebritie­s who are brand ambassador­s of Power Mac Center joined the fun, as well as welcomed customers as the doors leading to the iPhone X finally opened at exactly 12 midnight December 1.

Celebritie­s who joined the welcome party for the new iPhone X in the Philippine­s included Cesca Litton, Champ Lui-Pio, Diego Loyzaga, Jinno Rufino, Kim Jones - Rosales, Kaila Estrada, Maine Mendoza, Marc Nelson, Rico Blanco, Rovilson Fernandez, Sam YG and Tommy Esguerra.

The launch party became more exciting as Power Mac Center announced amazing prizes to be raffled off to customers who bought an iPhone X during the midnight launch. Lukcy iPhone X shoppers will have the chance to win one of these prizes: 1 winner of a trip for two to any destinatio­n in Asia (PAL Mabuhay Miles); 1 winner of a trip for two to any destinatio­n in the Philippine­s (PAL Mabuhay Miles); 3 winners of Apple AirPods; 3 winners of Beats X; 2 winners of Apple Watch; and 3 winners of Makati ShangriLa overnight stay for 2 with buffet for those who will availe the Protect Plus Plan.

The first 200 buyers of the new iPhone X also received starter kits filled with accessorie­s worth from P5,000 to P25,000. The first ten iPhone X buyers each received a starter kit worth P25,000; the next 11 to 50 customers who bought iPhone X each received a starter kit worth P12,000; and the next 51 to 200 iPhone X buyers each received P5,000 worth of a starter kit.

In addition, owners who activated their new phone on site received a P500 gift cheque.

The iPhone X, which is available through major credit cards for up to six months instalment, comes in Space Grey and Silver colors and 64 GB and 256 GB capacities respective­ly. Suggested retail price for the iPhone X 64 GB is Php 64,490, while the iPhone X 256 GB variant is Php 73,990.

Announced on September 12 and released on November 3, the iPhone X marks the device’s tenth anniversar­y, with “X” being the symbol for “ten.”

During its global launch, the iPhone X has been described by Apple officials as the future of the smartphone. It is packed with incredible new technologi­es, like the innovative TrueDepth camera system, beautiful Super Retina display and super fast A11 Bionic chip with neural engine. The all-glass front and back of the iPhone X feature the most durable glass ever in a smartphone.
