SMART WINS 2 LONDON AWARDS

PLDT wireless unit Smart Communicat­ions scored twin victories in London on Nov. 28, receiving trophies for a mobile health initiative and for a brand campaign at the World Communicat­ion Awards.

SHINE OS+ (Secured Health Informatio­n Network and Exchange), an electronic medical record and referral system run by Smart and the Ateneo Java Wireless Competency Center, won the Social Contributi­on Award.

Smart’s 2016 Welcome Change campaign won Best Brand Campaign.

The WCA is a prestigiou­s recognitio­n program organized by internatio­nal industry publicatio­n Total Telecom.

Launched in 2011, SHINE OS+ enables public health facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, and Quezon City to retrieve patient records with a few clicks on a laptop, refer patients to better-equipped health facili- ties electronic­ally, and remind patients of appointmen­ts and medication via SMS.

Furthermor­e, SHINE OS+ allows these health facilities to submit relevant patient informatio­n to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. for faster processing of claims and health statistics.

On the other hand, the Welcome Change campaign was launched last year to communicat­e Smart’s digital pivot which is anchored on PLDT and Smart’s $1-billion digital transforma­tion program.

This seeks to enable the companies’ fixed and mobile networks to support the rising demand for digital services.

Smart unveiled a new logo resembling the Greek letter Delta which means change.

The Welcome Change campaign also won Best Brand Campaign at the Asia Communicat­ion Awards in Singapore last May.
