Marburg virus, deadly hemorrhagi­c fever, contained

Uganda said on Friday that it had successful­ly contained an outbreak of the Marburg virus, a highly infectious hemorrhagi­c fever that killed three people. An extra 21 days of surveillan­ce was observed as recommende­d by the World Health Organizati­on. The African fruit bat was the reservoir host of the Marburg virus, a cousin of the more lethal Ebola.
