Marburg virus, deadly hemorrhagic fever, contained

Uganda said on Friday that it had successfully contained an outbreak of the Marburg virus, a highly infectious hemorrhagic fever that killed three people. An extra 21 days of surveillance was observed as recommended by the World Health Organization. The African fruit bat was the reservoir host of the Marburg virus, a cousin of the more lethal Ebola.
