FEU-NRMF DOCTORS TRIUMPH FOR 4TH STRAIGHT YEAR
Resident ern University-Dr. doctors of Nicanor the Far Reyes EastMedical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) surgery department have romped away with the championship honors for the fourth straight year in an annual contest with peers from other training centers where their skills in three areas were put to rigorous test. Areas where the general surgery resident doctors from the original 33 accredited training centers in Metro Manila competed again each other upon its inception in 2012 were on Basic Hand Tying and Suturing for first to second year resident trainees, Bowel Anastomosis and Laparoscopy Drills Challenge for the third to fifth year resident trainees. Beginning 2016 the annual competition was expanded and turned into a nationwide contest by the Philippine College of Surgeons, country’s the Philippine mother medical organization Society surgeons, of General of and the Surgeons, the organization under whose auspices the contest is held. In the years 2012 until 2013, the contest was lorded over by the general surgery resident trainees from the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital. When in 2016 the competition was made nationwide, accredited training centers all over the country were grouped into seven clusters including Metro Manila. Ten top performers in the cluster level compete in the national level on the same three areas of general surgery but in the laparoscopy drills challenge a specific degree of difficulty was adjusted.
