Toyota Motors Philippines Inc. (TMPI) unveiled the new Yaris hatchback last Dec. 20 at the Grand Hyatt ballroom during its annual Christmas thanksgiving event with the media.

The new Yaris was introduced a few weeks earlier in Thailand, and will be introduced in the local market as the 2018 model.

The heavily updated Yaris received numerous sheet metal panel design changes as Toyota claims it as its most appealing hatchback yet.

TMPI further added that by amplifying sensibility through a redefined design, the new Yaris projects an image of comfort and style.

Since its introduction in the market, the Yaris continues to stand out in the road with its unique appearance and spacious design, while promoting practicality for any driver.

With the new Yaris, TMPI hopes to dominate the hatchback segment with a new and more dynamic look, plus a new exciting Citrus Mica Metallic color to tap the still growing automotive market.

The former top-of-the-line Yaris 1.5G is now replaced by the 1.5S variant with a price tag touching the 7-digit number. It features a 4-cylinder in-line 16valve DOHC engine and automatic transmission with a horsepower rating of 107 ps and 141 Nmof torque.

These are the current introduction prices and may be subject to adjustments once the implementation of the new excise tax kicks in.

The popular Japanese hatch- back’s exterior design is now enhanced with a more sporty appearance even at night with its new halogen projector type headlamps with daytime running lights (DRL) for the 1.5 S.

The lower 1.3E variants will have a set of 4-beam halogen headlamps.

The new Yaris is now fitted with seven airbags across all variants.

Aside from the DRL and projector headlamps, the 1.5S is distinguished by its grip-type chrome trims, six-speaker entertainment system, a push start system, and an eco-drive and sport drive mode.

The 1.5S variant is also now fitted with a Toyota Vehicle Security System (TVSS) with alarm and immobilizer as well as smart entry with speed sensing door lock.

The new Yaris comes in Freedom White, Attitude Black, Orange Mettalic, Thermalyte, Red Mica Metallic for all variants, with the last two not available for the 1.5S. The new Citrus Mica Metallic and Gray Metallic are available exclusively for the 1.5S.
