Passion for Literature
Ysip-Orosa, STC HS 1964, studied Communications Arts and followed her passion for literature. She founded Studio 5 Designs with her husband in 1979.
From an era when graphic design was considered “the poor cousin of advertising,” Studio 5 went on to win local and international awards such as the Anvil, Quill, Stevies, Graphis, National Book Award, Gintong Aklat.
Four past presidents have had their historical tomes published by Studio 5.
Ysip-Orosa, twice a widow, has been a career person and mother, and has supported the Dayspring Christian Founda- tion which she founded and heads, Reach Youth Ministries, Caritas Manila, Zonta International, and UNWomen.
Alemar’s
As a child, Sibal-Limjoco, STC College 1969, wanted to get as far away from business as possible. But work in the family-owned bookstore Alemar’s gained her early experience, helping out in the store on Saturdays. But she took up foreign service in college, then interior design in New York.
Yet she was back at Alemar’s in no time. Her father, a lawyer, also established the Phoenix Publishing House.
She went on to form the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), of which she is now the vice chair.
She likewise pioneered the Philippine Retailers Association and formed her own, Francorp, as a local franchising consultancy firm. Now on its 20th year, it has gained recognition here and abroad.
She was one of the pioneers of the Fair Franchising Standards, which instilled discipline, professionalism, and selfregulation among Filipino franchisers.
As Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) president, she wants to share her experience as a young intern at Alemar’s. She plans to help K-12 students find better internship opportunities in PCCI member-companies.
