YOTEL SINGAPORE INTRODUCES WORLD’S FIRST MULTI-POINT HOTEL DELIVERY ROBOTS

- By Kenneth M. del Rosario

The next time you ask for an extra towel or another bottle of water at YOTEL Singapore, you probably won’t have to tip the staffer that delivered the goods. That’s because the hotel’s latest crew members are not human—they’re robots.

These are the world’s first multi-point hotel delivery robots. Equipped with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology that enables them to navigate around the entire hotel autonomously, they can deliver amenities directly and securely to guests’ rooms.

The robots seamlessly interface with the elevator and call the guest’s rooms (which YOTEL calls “cabin”) upon arrival at the door. Each robot is programmed to have its own unique voice and personality along with facial graphics. They are smartly engineered to speak and detect obstacles within their path.

“This is in line with YOTEL’s tech-forward reputation. By shortening delivery time, YOTEL robots are designed to enhance operational efficiency while helping make the customer experience easier and more enjoyable, and more memorable,” said Brendan Daly, Yotel Singapore’s general manager.

The robots have movable wheels, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, motion sensors, and three compartments to store the items to be delivered in any of YOTEL Singapore’s 610 rooms across 30 floors.

It’s not the first time the YOTEL franchise introduced robots into their hotels. In YOTEL New York, there’s a YOBOT, the “world’s first luggage robot, which has become an attraction in its own right.

Aside from the delivery robots, the hotel also features five self check-in kiosks at the lobby, which allows guests to check-in in just under two minutes; and checkout in seconds.

Seamless and intuitive guest experience

YOTEL Singapore opened its doors to guests in October 2017 along Orchard Road, providing a seamless and intuitive guest experience by integrating the elements of luxury hotels into smartly designed spaces.

The first YOTEL in Asia, the hotel offers a wide variety of cabins that are made to suit every traveler’s budget and needs, giving guests everything they need and nothing they don’t.

“It will bring a unique hotel experience to Singapore. It’s a perfect time for the city to embrace a new and exciting brand, a first for Singapore and the launch of affordable luxury for the hotel scene in Asia,” Gerard Greene, cofounder and CEO of YOTEL, said in a statement.

Inspired by luxurious firstclass airline travel, the “cabins” are compact but beautifully designed, delivered in a compact and smart way with high ceilings to give guests that loftstyle feel.

From a Premium Queen Cabin to a VIP View Suite, the cabins are equipped with signature YOTEL features such as the adjustable SMARTBED, and a TechnoWall with smart TVs for easy connectivity to guests’ devices. Guests can also enjoy access to complimentary super-strength Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

With a Club Lounge on “TEN,” guests can enjoy spaces for co-working, informal meetings, and social gatherings. Facilities include a pool and terrace, and 24/7 gym. There’s also the Grains & Hops Restaurant and Bar, which offers nine varieties of rice bowls including meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. A curated selection of craft beers and signature cocktails are also on offer to complement the rich assortment of Asian rice bowls.

Clever luxuries

Clever luxuries are standard at YOTEL, which features a premier line from Urban Skincare Co. in its rooms. The Cityscape Collection, developed with revolutionary anti-pollution formulas, work to remove impurities and provide protection to the body and hair from every day external aggressors.

“A stay at YOTEL is all about intuitive service and saving our guests time so that they can get on with the things important to them. We are incredibly excited about showcasing the YOTEL hospitality experience for the first time in Asia and we anticipate that our restaurant, bar and terrace will be very popular with guests, whether visiting the city or enjoying a staycation,” Daly said.

Like other YOTELs worldwide, YOTEL Singapore is located in a central and convenient area that offers guests easy access to the city’s main attractions. Highlights like the ArtScience Museum, Chinatown, Clarke Quay, Singapore Botanic Gardens, and Singapore Flyer are easily accessed via Orchard MRT Station, which is a mere five-minute walk.

Room rates start at $164 for a night’s stay in a Premium Queen Cabin.
