ECOP NATIONAL CONFAB SETS SIGHTS ON THE ‘AGE OF DISRUPTION’
The digital revolution has fasttracked the future.
With this in mind, employers are bracing for upcoming sweeping changes that will take place in the world of work.
The advent of the Age of Disruption as well as “blockchain technologies” are game changers. Blockchain technologies are reportedly in the early stages of their adoption and maturation cycle. The blockchain is compared this day to the birth of the Web in 1995. On the other hand, the disruptions being referred to are a highly regulated environment, disruptions affecting business and the community, and natural disasters, etc.
It is in these contexts that the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) has organized the 39th National Conference of Employers (NCE 39), slated on April 18-19 this year at Marriott Hotel. It highlights the theme, “The Future is Now: Labor and Social Policies in the Age of Disruption.” Renato B. Almeda of Yazaki-Torres Manufacturing, Inc. is Chair of NCE 39 Organizing Committee.
What is evident today is the growing use of bitcoins, increasing dominance of Grab and Uber, and adoption of telecommuting by some com- panies, and so forth.
“In the field of labor relations, ECOP is reaching out to partners to pave the way for the signing of tripartite agreements, bipartite agreements, social partnership agreements, all of these in the spirit of social dialogue,” ECOP President Donald G. Dee emphasized.
Among the topics of NCE 39 are Emerging Global Scenarios and their Implications to Business, Shaping the Future of Work that We Want, Managing the Impact of Technology, Conflicts, and Disasters on Employment, Innovating the Value Chain to Cope with Disruptions, to name a few.
