-

Operation Bigay Lunas (OBL) was successfully conducted by Mercury Drug Foundation in Malabon City, Pasig City, Bacoor City, Alaminos City, Daet in Camarines Norte, Kalibo City and Butuan City on March 1, 2018. A total of 15,515 underserved constituents in the seven selected sites were benefited.

The strong partnership of Mercury Drug Foundation with local government units; the solid support of partners, donors, healthcare professionals and Mercury Drug volunteers; and their joint aspiration to bring healthcare closer and more accessible to the people contributed to the successful conduct of the activity in all sites.

One hundred and eighty doctors from the local government units and the private sector provided free medical consultations, with assistance from volunteer government nurses and midwives. Mercury Drug volunteers supervised the conduct and smooth flow of the activity, handled the registration of patients and dispensed the medicines. United Laboratories with other partners and donors namely J&J Medical, Medical Center Trading, Philusa, Procter & Gamble, San Miguel, Unilever and Asia Brewery provided full support with medicines, medical supplies, health screening, nutritional counseling, feeding services, water and hygiene demo.

Free vitamins andmedicines for common ailments, infections and chronic non-communicable diseases were distributed to all patients. Everybody who came to avail of OBL services got their full medicine regimen to ensure complete treatment.

All the data gathered were promptly analyzed on-site and actionable health cases were referred to the local government units for follow-through action in support of the government’s healthcare program.

OBL is a lead program of Mercury Drug Foundation. Running for 20 years, it has benefited more than two million people. Among the beneficiaries is the Armed Forces of the Philippines whose members receive a regular supply of medicines and medical supplies, to ensure that soldiers get the necessary health care in any of its military treatment facilities in the country.
