‘It’ bags for summer 2018 scream ‘logomania’

From Burberry checks to Fendi’s big letter F, they’re loudly proclaimin­g their DNA

After six seasons of being discreet with low-key quality, luxury brand “it” bags have made a complete turnaround for SpringSumm­er 2018—coming out of the closet by loudly proclaimin­g their DNA patterns, buckles and logos.

From Dior to Gucci to Louis Vuitton, bags of all guises brandished their house’s names for all the world to see—whether these were the familiar checks of Burberry or the big letters of Fendi, Chanel and Armani.

The luxury bag market is in fierce competitio­n—designers wanting to stand out with signature flourishes and easily recognizab­le logos. Women carrying them want you to see how much they paid for those bags.

This Logoland move is also targeting China, India and South America clients with the money to spend—and who want to show the world that, yes, it’s still about the bag.
