April 26 to May 1 Liliw Gat Tayaw Tsinelas Festival

Afestival in Liliw in Laguna province, celebratin­g the town’s footwear industry, which is the main source of income of its residents. Activities include a street party, photo and painting contest, people’s night and a display of the town’s products.

April 28 to May 5 Bangus Festival

The local “bangus” (milkfish) industry in Dagupan City in Pangasinan province is showcased in amonthlong festival with the theme “TheHappies­t Fish Fest for You and Your Family.” The final week of festivitie­s will feature a trade fair, golf competitio­n and the much-awaited street party highlighte­d by the grilling of thousands of the city’s famous bangus, which is said to be the tastiest and juiciest in the country.

May 2 Sublian Festival

A festival in the town of Bauan in Batangas province that celebrates “subli,” an indigenous song and dance ritual. Poetry, movement and music are combined when performing subli as the dance is accompanie­d by chants and drums. The festival also features traditiona­l Filipino games, folk songs and the sharing of “nilupak,” a local delicacy made of bananas and sweet potato.
