RETIRED EDITOR PUBLISHES FAMILY MEMOIR

-

The book “Keeping It Together,” subtitled “A Memoir of Familial Love and Acceptance,” was written by Marichelle RoqueLutz for her four daughters, to grant their request for a written history of their family.

It took the author three years and countless drafts to complete her long, very private memoir, trusting her daughters would read it and love her enough to understand and forgive.

It took another two years of sitting on the memoir before the author made the decision to publish, with her daughters’ imprimatur. The 300-page book will be launched on May 26, 2 p.m., at Orchid Garden Suites, 620 Ocampo St. (formerly Vito Cruz), Malate (in front of Century Park Hotel), Manila.

Roque-lutz was editor of Woman’s Home Companion when she migrated to the United States in 1981. She was assistant research editor of Chicago magazine in the late 1980s before moving to New Holland, Pennsylvania, and joining the Intelligencer Journal as copy editor.

She retired at 65 from the morning daily, and has spent the last 12 years reading, writing, gardening, playing Scrabble as a rated member of the North American Scrabble Players Association, singing with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and going home to Quezon City to be with relatives and friends of long standing. The book is available at La Solidaridad Bookstore, 531 Padre Faura St., Ermita, and Popular Bookstore, T. Morato St. near Timog Avenue, Quezon City.
