MARRIOTT MANILA LAUNCHES HOSPITALITY TRAINING CENTER IN PHILIPPINE SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF
Marriott Manila is known to be a leader in the hospitality industry, not only in the business facet, but also in corporate social responsibility.
In its annual Brigada Eskwela participation, Marriott launches a Hospitality Training Center in the Philippine School for the Deaf. The development is part of the long-term partnership of the hotel and school to achieve impactful and sustainable results for the kids with disabilities.
The two-story facility is a venue for the new housekeeping course for the school’s senior high students. Marriott donated furniture, such as rollaways beds, beddings, sofas and a television set for the mock-up room. It conducted bed making demonstration and has scheduled other housekeeping lessons in the coming months.
Before polishing the interiors, the hotel has been involved in the reconstruction of the building and the Brigada Eskwela activity, where 60 associ- ates volunteered for the final retouches on painting and cleaning of the exteriors and corners to make the facility look good as new.
The outreach program is an integral part of the hotel’s annual Associate Appreciation Week, and more so, the brand’s core value of serving the world. Marriott worldwide strives to be a force for good wherever they operate.
In Manila, the cluster general manager Bruce Winton emphasized this, “It is important to be fully engaged in our community in creating a much more meaningful long-term impact.” This shows how Marriott redefines hospitality by going beyond its premises and being a positive influence to the community.
