TIP-QC students win in ‘ArchiNext 2018’
Students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Quezon City won in the "ArchiNext 2018: HCG Young Designers’ Competition (AYDC)" held recently.
The announcement was made during the HCG Awards Night at the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Construction Expo (CONEX) 2018 at the SMX Convention Center. Among the 569 entries in the competition, the top three finalists were chosen to vie for the title of grand winner. Mike Spencer R. Cerbito, a 4th year architect student from TIP-QC was declared as the Grand Winner and the Best Presentation Awardee. Two other students from TIP-QC were awarded: Christian Lawrence C. Fedilo who placed 9th and Janet B. Vizcarra who won the Most Innovative Design Award. All winning participants received cash prizes, plaques and certificates.
This year’s design challenge was entitled “SIBOL: A Community-Based Recovery Home for Drug Dependents.” Sibol is envisioned to be operated by cities or municipal government units and shall have four basic components/services that include Therapeutic Services, Vocational and Education, Stay-in Residential Services, and Administrative with Support Services Office.
