‘PARTY OF FOUR’ AT FRANCESCA FESTIVAL MALL
“Party of Four,” the collaborative exhibition of painters Anna de Leon, Roel Obemio, Omi Reyes and Migs Villanueva, is ongoing at Galerie Francesca Alabang until July 14.
The interactive paintings, a hallmark of the Saturday Group to which all four artists belong, has been likened to jazz improvisations: they not only highlight each painter’s artistic style and temperament, but also their friendship and mutual respect.
This year, the collaborative works are loosely inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party, from Lewis Caroll’s “Alice in Wonderland.”
De Leon’s works feature familiar romantic elements which convey a narrative of a love fulfilled—the maya is finally crowned king upon successfully snatching the golden locket of love.
Obemio’s collection of plump whimsical clowns seemingly defy gravity as they caper carelessly in dreamlike landscapes.
Reyes presents steampunk nursery, complete with a rocking horse to round off his spirited and youthful set.
Villanueva’s new works are of happy and innocent children surrounded by feathery hy- drangeas inspired by the colors of a tropical sunset at sea. Galerie Francesca Alabang is at Unit 3319, 2/F, Festival Mall Expansion Wing, Civic Drive,
