ARMM lawmaker survives Davao attack but aide slain
DAVAO CITY— A lawmaker from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) survived while one of his aides was killed when armed men fired at their vehicle at Barangay Cabantian here on Monday, police said. Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson for the Southern Mindanao police, said Berry Adas, an aide of ARMM assemblyman Sidik Amiril, was at the back of the lawmaker’s pickup truck and was hit in the head. Driz said the pickup truck was passing through the corner of Macopa and Chico Streets at 2:30 p.m. when the armed men, aboard a sport utility vehicle, and a motorcycle opened fire. Amiril, his driver and two other passengers were unharmed, apparently shielded by the bulletproof car, police said.
