Village chiefs in Laguna, Rizal fall in antidrug operations

SAN PEDRO CITY— Two village chiefs in the provinces of Laguna and Rizal were arrested in antidrug operations this week, police said. In Laguna, Alfredo Manuel Jr., barangay captain of Damayan in Famy town, was arrested after policemen serving a search warrant found four sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) from the official on Tuesday morning. In Rizal, police recovered 200 grams of suspected shabu, worth P1 million, from Angelito Pranada, village chief of Daraitan in Tanay town, during a search on Monday.
