The Internet has indeed revolutionized the travel industry, making it easy for everyone to search for airline tickets and accommodations just by typing on a keyboard.

However, the downside of the ease provided by technology is the proliferation of fake sites or online companies with questionable reputation that lure people into online scams.

The enticing travel packages that are too good to be true may not be what they seem, as they are offered by fly-by-night operators that work under the radar and are not accountable for their products.

The illegal practice puts the travelling public at risk to various scams and modus and the best way to not fall into this scheme is to purchase travel products from reputable companies, or better yet, visit a travel trade fair to really find great deals and discounts.

The Travel Madness Expo 2018 gathers together an impressive array of local and international airlines, big travel agencies, top hotels and resorts, theme parks and cruise compa- nies, national tourism organizations, as well as retailers and global service providers all in one convenient location.

As the most-awaited travel and trade show in the country for the second half of the year, the expo gathers trusted names in the travel and leisure sector, with each offering great bargains and super deals on the most preferred local and global destinations.

“Before making your purchases, exercise your due diligence. Transact only with reputable providers and maximize the expo by maximizing the wealth of information and services given by trusted travel agents. They can answer your questions and are very much ready to address your concerns,” advices Raymond Tee, president of Travel Innovation Inc., the organizer of Travel Madness Expo 2018.

The Travel Madness Expo 2018 is the annual three-day event touted as the biggest travel event and trade fair at this time of the year—that opens its doors to the public beginning today at Halls 1-4, ground floor of the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

The Travel Madness Expo, which began in 2012, remains the biggest post-summer travel fair. It aims to enliven the industry with special rates, great travel deals, and many unique freebies only available within the three-day trade show.

With the objective of encouraging business activity in the travel industry during the low season, this expo gathers a number of reputable and trusted travel partners and providers that will ultimately offer both inbound and outbound tour products, accommodations, airfare and other travel-related services. The Travel Madness Expo also welcomes tourism boards from other countries to introduce themselves and invite Filipinos to visit their respective countries.

The three-day travel extravaganza will feature all the important players from the travel industry as they converge and outdo each other in offering deals and promos with the best value for money. Here, visitors can roam around the venue, col- lect pamphlets and handouts, attend demonstrations, watch presentations, issue domestic and/or international tickets, book land arrangements, and check out other travel related products and services.

Consumers can also purchase from exhibiting travel agencies who offer airfare deals at the same rate being presented by airline exhibitors. Visitors can also count on travel agents to provide adequate information, answer inquires and address specific concerns for fun, smooth and hassle-free travels. The Travel Madness Expo 2018 is sure to provide visitors with a comprehensive overview of the entire travel and leisure market.

According to TII vice president Maria Paz Alberto, the travel expo allows prospective travelers to review their options, compare prices and itineraries, choose from thousands of new products and services, and ultimately get wellinformed advice to make that dream vacation a reality.

Alberto underscores the importance of this year’s Travel Madness Expo in invigorating local tourism. “This year’s expo goes beyond boosting the travel business. More than offering deals and tickets, we are opening the gateway for new experiences. Now is the perfect time for our kababayans to avail of these amazing deals and explore other Philippine destinations. Get a hold of the extremely discounted rates at Travel Madness Expo 2018 and discover the wonders of our regions, all while having a taste of local cuisine and having the vacation of a lifetime,” she explains.

For this year’s Travel Madness Expo, more than 160 exhibitors are participating and they are categorized in four different zones. There’s a zone allotted for national tourism offices where they can promote new and exciting attractions in their respective countries. There are 25 major airlines (both local and international) that will be offering airfare options in their respective area. Meanwhile, there are also 46 reputable travel agencies gathered in their zone to offer deals and special promos. The group composed of hotels, casinos, resorts, theme parks and the cruise companies is also present. For added convenience, there is a dedicated section for retailers offering bags, luggage, suitcases, apparel and other travel essentials. Keeping all the visitors and exhibitors well-fed and hydrated are the 14 food and drink concessionaires occupying 32 booths in total.

Making their presence felt on the event are the national tourism organizations, namely, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau, Korea Tourism Organization, Guam Visitors Bureau, as well as the Czech Tourism Office and Surabaya Tourism of Indonesia.

Making the event possible is the support of major sponsors: Philippine Airlines (PAL), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Express Credit Card, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company ( PLDT), SMX Convention Center, Duty Free Philippines and Taiwan Tourism Bureau, powered by SABRE. Meanwhile, official media partners are The Philippine STAR, Expat Magazine, Travel Now Magazine and Island Living Channel.
