P1-B ir­ri­ga­tion project opened in Is­abela

CITY OF ILAGAN— The P1-bil­lion Pasa Dam ir­ri­ga­tion project, which would aug­ment the wa­ter needs of 600 farm­ers here, was opened on Thurs­day, rais­ing hopes that their rice pro­duc­tion would in­crease in the next crop­ping sea­son. With in­creased ir­ri­ga­tion wa­ter, farm­ers ex­pected to pro­duce ad­di­tional 8,629.20 met­ric tons of rice on 846 hectares of farms in the vil­lages of Pasa, Min­a­bang, Mo­rado, Fuyo and Sta. Vic­to­ria, Na­tional Ir­ri­ga­tion Ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cials here said. The Pasa Dam will also re­duce flood­ing in Ilagan since its reser­voir can carry 4.28 mil­lion cu­bic me­ters of wa­ter. The project was built with the sup­port of a $21.76-mil­lion (P935.68 mil­lion) grant from the Korea In­ter­na­tional Co­op­er­a­tion Agency.
