‘Like a second home’

New Tagaytay resort hotel banks on ‘personal engagement’ with guests

-

Upon arrival at Anya, the guest is welcomed by the staff like a returning family member. “Guests who come with a backpack will be given as much importance as those with Louis Vuitton luggage,” Anya general manager Peter D’Souza says.

Guests are whisked off on a golf cart to the villa. In the suite, the guest’s popular music list is played.

The headboard bearing the embroidery patterns of the barong Tagalog is the touch of the Filipino.

The softness or firmness of the mattress and pillows is customized to the guest’s specifications, as well as the room scent.

Upon checkout, the resort lines the guest’s suitcase with fresh Japanese paper, packs the clothes and seals the paper with the Anya logo.

All these, to make the guest feel like he’s leaving a second home.

“We focus on three unique selling points—perfect accommodations, service and food,” D’Souza says.

The suites are luxurious, ranging from 47-128 s qm, with high ceilings and generous balconies facing nature views and rolling hills.

The rolling terrain, clusters of old trees and lush foliage are conducive to solitude.

Dining scene

For highly personalized service, there is a high ratio of staff-to-guest.

There’s a “lifestyle assistant” for every guest, who attends to his special requirements, such as running errands to the city center.

Anya is getting into Tagaytay’s dining radar. The menu is varied: Amra Deli is popular for several types of burger—Angus beef and cheese, tuna tataki, chicken and quail egg, and chickpea patty for the vegan, as well as pizzas topped with Parma ham, chorizo, mozzarella, egg and truffles. There are also craft beers and, for the health buffs, herbal fruit shakes and fresh fruit extracts.

A sunset dinner on the balcony can be had at the Mediterranean, semi-fine dining restaurant Samira. Some dishes give a nod to local ingredients such as the tawilis risotto and Tagaytay pineapples with sorbet. A sommelier can recommend the wines.

Anila, the all-day dining restaurant, caters to customers who love familiar Filipino and Western foods. The garden grows the herbs and vegetables.

To celebrate its first anniversary this month, Anya will launch its loyalty program for regular visitors. Guests who have stayed in the hotel for at least 10 nights in one year will receive privileges.

For the July anniversary promo, the junior suite is priced at 50-percent off published rates or P5,500 for a minimum of two nights’ stay, inclusive of breakfast, from Sunday to Thursday.

The Rest and Reward Package costs P12,900 on weekends and P14,400 on weekdays for an overnight stay for two people. This includes breakfast for two, three-course dinner and in-room massage. Anya is at Buenavista Avenue, Tolentino West, Tagaytay, Cavite
