25- YEAR SERVICE A WAR DEE :‘ BEING WITH BA NC NET HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT ON WHO I AMA SA PERSON’
Froilan M. Castillo has been with BancNet for 25 years—more than half his entire life. When he joined BancNet as computer operator in 1993, BancNet was just three years old, practically still a start-up company. Back then, not many people knew what BancNet was or how instrumental it would become in today’s digital world.
“Before, when I would tell people that I worked at BancNet, they would ask ‘which branch?’ They all thought BancNet was a bank,” said Froilan, who has an electronics and communication engineering degree.
He decided to join the company because he wanted something challenging. Plus the fact that a couple of classmates in college had already joined BancNet a year prior and had told him good things about the company.
After six years as computer operator, Froilan became the company’s Database Adminis- trator for more than 13 years.
Today, Froilan is Head of Data Center Operations Department. Under his supervision are 10 personnel. His and his team’s primary function is to monitor switch applications between banks, as well as submit transaction reports to respective banks.
What Froilan and his team does is at the core of BancNet’s existence, which is to help transactions between different banks run smoothly.
“I never thought I would still be with BancNet 25 years later. When I first joined, it didn’t take long before I really felt at home. The environment was something you would want to come to every day,” he said.
Through his years with BancNet, Froilan said he felt professional and personal growth. Whenever he would jump to a different department, he would receive necessary training so he that he would have the skills needed to complete the job.
He likes the feeling of being with a company which keeps evolving to keep up with the changing times. While work could get a bit challenging and stressful at times, Froilan said the friendly and happy culture at BancNet makes everything a little better every time.
He said: “I’m here because I really enjoy it here. I get a sense of fulfillment from what I do. And I’ve been here long enough that it’s one of the things that have positively impacted my life.”
