PALACE: NO ONE WILL BE SPARED IN WAR ON DRUGS
The Duterte administration will spare no one in its war on illegal drugs as shown by the indictment of Cebu-based businessman Peter Lim on charges of alleged conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading.
Malacañang stressed that the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) move to file two counts of conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading against Lim showed the government’s resolve to combat illegal drugs.

“The filing of charges by the DOJ against Lim shows government’s seriousness and firm resolve in fighting the illicit drug trade,” said presiden- tial spokesperson Harry Roque.
In a statement on Sunday, he added: “Big fish or small, our war against drugs spares no one. It is a war that drug smugglers and traffickers are bound to lose.”
Last Friday, the DOJ filed charges of conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading against Lim, Rolando “Kerwin” Espinosa Jr., Marcelo Adorco, Ruel Malindangan and several others at the Makati City Regional Trial Court.
They were accused of violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Lim, who runs several businesses including night clubs in Cebu, was accused of agreeing to supply Espinosa, a confessed drug dealer, with illegal drugs during a meeting at the Cash & Carry supermarket in Makati City.
Senate testimony
This was according to the DOJ’s resolution, which used Espinosa’s testimony in a Senate hearing that identified Lim as one of his suppliers of illegal drugs.
President Duterte was outraged over the DOJ’s initial decision dropping the case against the high-profile drug personalities due to supposedly weak evidence.
The President invoked his power of supervision and control over the DOJ and ordered a review of the dismissal of the case, with then Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II ordering a renewed investigation.
