A wedding banquet set in sampaguita-perfumed luxe garden
Merrymaking reflects college sweethearts Aaron James Aw’s and Maika Charisse Tan’s outgoing personalities
July 21 was a day filled with love and happiness for Aaron James Aw and Maika Charisse Tan, longtime couple and college sweethearts (both went to the University of the Philippines School of Economics), as they tied the knot at Santuario de San Antonio Church, Makati.
Aaron is the second son of Benny Aw and Olivia Limpe-Aw of the oldest distillery in the Philippines, Destileria Limtuaco & Co. Inc.
Maika’s parents, Alfred and Valentina Tan, own Truchem Technologies Inc., an industrial chemical company.
It was a special, meaningful celebration filled with intimate moments and a whole lot of merrymaking, reflecting the couple’s joyful and outgoing personalities.
Maika was a classic bride in her fully embroidered convertible gown by Randy Ortiz, who also did the mothers’ ensembles. (The groom’s mother, Olivia, changed into a Renee Salud.)
Aaron was dapper in his tuxedo by JC Buendia.
During cocktails, guests were treated to a spread of scrumptious, stuffed lechon de
leche by Dedet dela Fuente’s Pepita’s Kitchen, and signature drinks by Destileria Limtuaco.
Makati Shangri-La’s Rizal Ballroom was transformed into a luxe garden decked with lush greenery and grand chandeliers, by event stylist Gideon Hermosa.
Leading to the ballroom was a tunnel with sampaguita fringe and LED light curtains, with the fragrance of the national flower wafting in the air. Touches of white and gold were added to complete the party’s subdued elegance.
Cake designer Penk Ching created the five-tier wedding cake.
Destileria Limtuaco teamed up with Makati Shangri-La’s culinary team for the dinner menu. Guests relished dishes like House Smoked Duck Breast on Honey Glazed Pear with Paradise Mango Salsa; Seared Cod with Manille Liqueur de Calamansi, Pumpkin Puree and Butter Sauce; Manille Dalandan Sorbet; and Amadeo Coffee Tiramisu with White Chocolate Pan Forte—all prepared with the company’s Philippine craft spirits.
