AAP- MSDP NATIONAL GYMKHANA FINALS IN NOVEMBER
The Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) Motor Sport Development Program (MSDP) will finally be naming its Gymkhana champion for 2018.
On November 4, 2018, Sunday, the respective AAP-MSDP Gymkhana champions of Metro Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro/Iligan and Davao will be battling it out at Megatent, Libis, Quezon City to see who will bag the AAP-MSDP National Gymkhana title.
Seven Aleman (1300cc below category), Rex Francisco (13011500cc category), Philip Lim (1501- 1800cc category), and Julian Neri (1801-2000cc and 2001cc and Up categories) emerged as AAP-MSDP Gymkhana Cebu Round 4 champions last September 15, 2018, and will be the representatives of the province for the finals.
Meanwhile, AAP-MSDP Gymkhana Iloilo named their champions on September 30, 2018 with John Española (1300cc below category), Glenn Gallos (1301-1500cc and 1501-1800cc categories), Glicerio Gallos (1801-2000cc category) and Ian Rosales (2001cc & up categories) trying to bring home the victory for the Panay region.
Besting all other contenders from Cotabato, Tagum and Davao, AAP-MSDP Gymkhana Davao identified Tenny Montuno (1300cc below and 1301-1500cc categories), Mark Bernales (15011800cc category), and Mario Roque (1801-2000cc and 2001cc and Up categories) qualifiers for the nationals.
Soon, the representatives for Cagayan de Oro/Iligan and Metro Manila will be announced with the final MSDP modules and Gymkhana rounds happening this October and November.
The MSDP Gymkhana was launched back in March 2017 as the trial application of the theo- ries taught in the MSDP curriculum.
MSDP students who attend the modules are encouraged to participate in the Gymkhana to learn how it is like to compete and to find out for themselves how to execute what they have learned.
Last year, the AAP-MSDP Gymkhana followed the Asian Auto Gymkhana Competition format. The contenders drove identical Mazda2 SkyActiv cars through the track whose layout-was changed in between rounds.
Drivers went through 2 qualifying rounds to compete in the next round. During eliminations, drivers raced head-tohead. In the end, Boodie Dabasol was named the first AAPMSDP Gymkhana champion, besting 18 class champions from different provinces in the Philippines after completing the track in 47.14 seconds.
The MSDP is supported by Mazda Philippines, Seaoil, Bendix Brakes, BlueChem, NWB Wipers, Dynamics Suspension, Autop-erformance PH, Aeromed Ambulance Transport, Walter Light and Sounds, Time Attack Manila, Rota Wheels, Hazardboy Performance, TS Tuning, FORS, Race Motorsports Club, SpeedLab, HotPipes, K&N Performance, Dynapack and GR Tuning.
