A KID-FRIENDLY ABS-CBN STUDIO EXPERIENCE

- By Ruth L. Navarra

Isuspect that my 2-year-old daughter has a huge crush on Coco Martin. Actually, scratch that. I think she’s obsessed with Cardo Dalisay. Every time “Ang Probinsyano” is on, she reaches for the television and happily shouts, “Si Cardo! Si Cardo!” She would do this in every Coco Martin commercial and endorsements she sees on TV, billboard and just about every space that has Coco’s face on it.

Imagine her happiness when we stepped inside the ABS-CBN Studio Experience at TriNoma early this month. The sight of Coco Martin’s standee at the Action Academy was enough to make her jump with joy. She hurriedly stood next to it to get her photo taken with a piece of cardboard.

Outside the Kapamilya Theater, a LED TV alternately showed Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla and Coco. Just a video of him talking was enough to make her stay still for a few minutes.

The Theater features a game called “Misyon: Ang Probinsyano.” We were given tablets at the entrance with either white or black sleeves. The sleeves would dictate whether we are on the side of the police or thieves. The tablet served as the console for the patintero game.

If my little girl was a little order and would agree to stand still for 10 minutes, I would’ve made her try StarLab and be part of the “Goin Bulilit.” Alas, she spent most of her time in the Superheroes playground where she easily navigated through the slides and the ball pit.

We had our lunch at the Heroes Burger. My daughter loved the colorful comic wrapping of local superheroes. But she loved eating the burger more.

The venue is packed with activities that would cater to the station’s audience. It is familyfriendly and there is something for everyone. Parents can enjoy the place with their children, but be mindful that they will remain your responsibility throughout the stay.

Curious children would especially enjoy this. Star Lab has their own director and floor director managing the lights, the sound and the editing. The green room as a magic tool can be a fascinating topic when you get home.

Dress your children comfortably, in shoes they can run in. Do not make them wear the color green if you plan on entering Star Lab. Make them wear socks because it is a requirement at the playground. Younger children will need a companion, so the companion will also need socks.

Bring water because you will need it after spending an exciting day at the studio.

Tala, my daughter, will probably return soon. We heard that the Pinoy Big Brother Breakout will be adding an “Ang Probinsyano” theme room soon.
