Thousands benefit from ‘Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project’
In celebration of Security Bank Corporation’s 60th Anniversary in 2011, SBFI launched its Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project which initially targeted to build 60 classrooms over a period of five years to help address classroom shortage in public schools. The project further expanded in 2012 when SBFI partnered with Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation to help build classrooms for kindergarten pupils. In 2018, SBFI had surpassed its target seven times over, delivering 433 classrooms nationwide.
Believing that it takes a community to raise a child, SBFI involves the participation of different stakeholders in The Classrooms Project. It collaborates with Ateneo De Manila University and De La Salle Philippines to provide continuous teachers’ training for The Classrooms Project beneficiary schools. It works with the Department of Education (DepEd) Division Offices and the Local Government Units (LGUs) to help secure additional resources such as classroom furniture, land, demolition cost and procurement of building permits and licenses.
“The Classrooms Project showed me the value of partnership with different stakeholders. As a school principal, I served as a vital link amongproject partners to communicate and ensure the delivery of counterparts for project completion,” said Valentin Dignadice,
