Securing a Better Future for our Scholars

-

SBFI believes that deserving students should be given the opportunity to finish their education despite financial limitations. The Foundation has continuously funded scholarships and financial assistance to children of Security Bank employees and agency personnel, as well as deserving students enrolled in select partner schools of SBFI.

One of them is recent graduate Jenica Cabacaba, an Agency Personnel Scholar who is currently employed as an account officer handling online applications of car loans at Security Bank in Makati.

Cabacaba is the daughter of a security guard who works at the Security Bank Main Office on Ayala Avenue in Makati City.

The Agency Personnel Scholarship known as “Regalo

Mo, Kinabukasan Ko” is a program funded by both SBFI and the personal donations of Security Bank employees and clients. The scholarship provided by the Bank started when she was still in high school and continued until college. Through the scholarship, Cabacaba was able to finish a degree in Business Administration major in Marketing Management at Arellano University in Manila, where she graduated cum laude in 2015.

“The scholarship motivated me to study harder. My father was so happy and proud because I did not only finish college, but I finished the course with honors. And I amreally thankful to Security Bank for all the financial assistance that put me through school.”

SBFI scholar Loriegail Medel currently works as a restaurant manager at Chesa Bianca Swiss Restaurant in Makati.

She was a scholar at Punlaan School, a private technical-vocational school offering training programs in Hospitality and Culinary Arts in San Juan City.

After high school, Medel’s father passed away and she had to quit school and work as a service crew in a fast-food restaurant to help her mother and siblings.

The opportunity for the SBFI scholarship came her way when the school principal from her high school contacted her and informed her of a scholarship slot at Punlaan School.

She was an on-the-job trainee at the restaurant, which eventually hired her after she graduated from Punlaan School. With work and the promotions that camewith it, she was able to help send two of her siblings to school.

“As a graduate of Punlaan, I contribute to the industry and at the same time, I also inspire others. I thank SBFI for the opportunity that helped me improve my life.”
