Johnny English is back and he wears an IWC
Funnyman and British actor Rowan Atkinson once again plays the role of a bumbling spy in the latest and third installment of the Johnny English superspy series. The superspy movie satire has Atkinson once again assumes his role as Johnny English, now a geography teacher and retired MI7 agent who had to be reinstated for a mission. This James Bond parody is perfectly suited for Atkinson who is also known as Mr. Bean, a popular British sitcom of the same name.
While he’s quite funny in all his movies, he’s very serious about his cars and timepieces. He personally owns a number of highly collectible supercars and classic cars, and is an avid racecar driver. Since every British superspy “needs” to have an Aston Martin, in this movie, he drives around in a tricked out classic red Aston Martin Vantage that he personally owns and bought with the intention of using it in the current movie.
In the official movie poster of Johnny English Strikes Again, Atkinson can be seen wearing an IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Le Petit Prince” with a classic gray striped suit. The subtitle: “When only the best will do” subtly defines his exquisite taste in the clothes, cars and accessories he uses. On a separate appearance on a latenight Italian TV show Che tempo che fa, he was seen wearing the same watch and the stainless steel case and bracelet with the unmistakable deep blue colored dial that tastefully matches the well-tailored blue suit he was wearing.
This IWC watch is a specialedition watch named after the classic book “The Little Prince” by French Air Force pilot and hero Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who wrote the book.
