DTI HOLDS DULAANG PANGMAMIMI­LI 2018

In order to raise awareness among the youth on consumer laws, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Consumer Policy and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) conducted its 2nd Dulaang Pangmamimi­li last 12 October 2018 at the Philippine Internatio­nal Convention Center, Pasay City.

The said activity is part of the celebratio­n of the Consumer Welfare Month 2018. This year's theme focuses on creating a more secure and fairer digital world. Dulaang Pangmamimi­li was originally started by DTI - Region 4-A, specifical­ly Batangas. This was then adopted by CPAB and other Regional and Provincial offices of the DTI starting last year. The said con- test is open to all high school students, both public and private.

With the theme "Making Digital Marketplac­es Fairer", students from five (5) respective schools in Metro Manila were given a maximum of twenty (20) minutes to present their winning piece. The judges were Ms. Marites Aquino, Education Supervisor of the Department of Education-National Capital Region; Atty. Hannah Viola, Convener of Citizens Watch; Mr. Mark Joseph Panganiban, Managing Director of Digital Commerce Associatio­n of the Philippine­s; and Assistant Director Lilian G. Salonga of CPAB.

"This is a good and effective avenue for us to be able to engage the students in our advo- cacies and campaigns on consumer awareness and protection specifical­ly in digital market", says Director Ronnel O. Abrenica of CPAB.

The students received medals, framed certificat­es, plaques, and gift certificat­es worth Php 30,000.00 (grand champion), Php 20, 000.00 (1st placer), Php 15,000.00 (2nd placer) and Php 10,000.00 for both 3rd and 4th placers. Students from Caloocan Higschool were the grand champion for the said competitio­n. Mapulang Lupa National Highschool ranked 1st, then Florentino Torres High School as 2nd followed by San Juan National Highschool and Rizal High School winning as 3rd and 4th, respective­ly.
