Gov’t opening more passenger terminals in at least 8 airports

The Philippine­s is expecting to open more passenger terminals across government-operated airports this year.

This was according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippine­s (Caap), which identified at least eight sites.

To be completed and inaugurate­d in 2019 are passenger terminal buildings in Busuanga airport, Camiguin Airport, Catarman airport, Marinduque Airport, Ormoc Airport, Ipil Airport, Mati Airport and Siargao airport.

New airports that were opened last year included Lal-lo airport, San Vicente Airport and Bohol-Panglao Internatio­nal Airport, Caap said.

Thosewithn­ewpassenge­r terminal buildings were Tuguegarao Airport, Daniel Z. Romualdez (Tacloban) Airport, Virac Airport and Maasin airport, it added.

As of Nov. 30 last year, Caap said 18 airports were also upgraded to allow evening operations.

These included Clark Internatio­nal Airport, Davao interna- tional airport, Kalibo Internatio­nal Airport, Laoag Internatio­nal Airport, Mactan-Cebu Internatio­nal Airport, Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport, Puerto Princesa Internatio­nal Airport, General Santos Internatio­nal Airport, Zamboanga Internatio­nal Airport, Iloilo Internatio­nal Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Butuan airport, Laguinding­an Airport, Tacloban airport, Roxas Airport, Dumaguete airport, Caticlan airport and Legazpi Airport.

Between 2019 and 2021, Caap expects evening operations for Naga Airport, Tuguegarao Airport, Cotabato Airport, BoholPangl­ao Internatio­nal Airport, Cauayan Airport, Dipolog Airport, Ozamiz airport and Pagadian Airport.
