PNP: SWS survey shows war on drugs effective
The Philippine National Police feels vindicated by a recent Social Weather Stations survey that showed 66 percent of Filipinos believe that the number of drug addicts decreased in the past year. “This is a huge indication that our fight against illegal drugs has caused a change, that a lot of our countrymen now avoid using drugs,” said Senior Supt. Bernard Banac, spokesperson for the PNP. He cited government data showing that of the country’s 42,044 barangays, 11,000 had been cleared of drugs and that the number of “drug-affected” barangays had decreased.
