Influential industry players converge at Worldbex 2019

- TESSA PRIETO-VALDES

When one of life’s basic necessities—whether food, water, or shelter—is in crisis, we all need to be part of the solution and do our personal share to conserve. Metro Manila is in a crisis and we are now living with a water shortage.

Apart from the efforts to conserve water, we should also think about keeping the used water clean. Water rationing could help, but if we use water wisely and learn to “recycle” even water, we could help in conserving this basic human need.

At the ongoing World Building and Construction Expo (Worldbex) 2019 at the World Trade Center, I came across a company called Cleantech. Its mission is to help companies, institutions, and communities to comply with prescribed environmental regulations and promote green clusters and communities.

Cleantech provides cost-effective environmental-related services, equipment and other clean technologies that will take into strong consideration the emerging global concern on the serious status of environment (specifically in water). Check out this company and other interesting building materials that keep eco-friendly issues in mind.

At the highly anticipated expo, a grand opening ceremony was held at the venue lobby. In attendance during the program were representatives of guests of honor Public Works Undersecretary Catalina Cabral, Trade Assistant Secretary Angelo Taningco and HLURB CEO Lloyd Christopher Lao together with Worldbex Services International’s ( WSI) founding chairman Joseph Ang, co-founder Levi Ang, executive director Arch. Francisco Flameño Jr., managing director Jill Ang, and directors Rene Ramos and Tessie Roque.

With its mission to contribute to the continuous devel- opment of the industry, Worldbex brings together most influential players in the field— from architects, engineers, interior designers and key decision makers to construction companies, design firms, manufacturers, and stakeholders. With this, visitors can definitely expect a wide range of features and event highlights that are all aimed at improving the quality of life of Filipino communities.

At the entrance of the main hall at the World Trade Center, there are several interior design showcases that display fine art pieces and stylish furniture and furnishing for visitors to view. For my showcase, I collaborated with Mejore Furniture to display the latest products like an elegant sofa that converts into a sofa bed. Other pieces include a dining set with soliya accent chairs and glass table.

For the flooring of the booth, I got Matimco Flooring to display Ashwood flooring in brush finish. Matimco recently opened a showroom in Parañaque and will open another one at Westgate Alabang in April.

After visiting my booth, I headed to the Wilcon Showroom to check out the latest products available at Wilcon. I was especially interested with its giant industrial size ceiling fan. Wilcon is selling smaller sizes that are perfect for home use.

Simultaneously held at the World Trade Center and the SMX Convention Center, this year’s show boasts of a 33,000sqm exhibition space that houses the widest array of construction and design products as well as services from over 700 local and international exhibitors.

To be exact, there are 1,500 booths along with various associations and embassies that are present in this year’s Worldbex. Furthermore, as Worldbex continues to strengthen its ties between the local and international sector, 16 countries are participating in this year’s show including China, India, Czech Republic, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain, Denmark, Italy, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the United States.

Indeed, Worldbex emerges as a prime venue for industry professionals and investors alike who are seeking to expand their B2B opportunities on a domestic and international scale.

“Worldbex 2019: AWorld Built Bolder” is ongoing until March 17. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the World Trade Center Manila and the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.
