CEU holds 29th Job and Career Fair

-

Seventy-two companies participated in the 29th Centro Escolar University’s Job and Career Fair held last Feb. 1 at the Student Activity Center in CEU, Manila. The companies offered employment opportunities to CEU graduating students and alumni. “We know that our twin philosophy (Science and Virtue) will really take you forward and long into your future, and always remember that these two always go together, character will always enhance your competence, and your competence will be guided by your character,” CEU president and chief academic officer Dr. Ma. Cristina D. Padolina said in her welcome message. She also expressed her thanks to the industry partners for believing in the potential of the soon-to-be CEU graduates and to the organizers who made this event possible as part of the students’ learning experience in the university. Barry Sumpio, former CEU alumnus and the head of the CEU human resource department, said that success in the professional career entails a lot of diligence and hard work, and approaching these companies means selling oneself. Sumpio said Escolarians can only sell themselves by having the “CEU” attributes which stand for Character, Educational Background and Unparalleled Faith, because success in career is not just by luck, but it has to be coupled with prayers and competencies rooted from the university. The representative from George Optical, one of the participating companies in the fair also gave his message, followed by the deans and other representatives of the different schools with their empowering messages, well wishes, and advance congratulatory remarks to the graduating students.
