DILG FILES RAPS VS 50 MAYORS, GOVERNOR

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has filed complaints with the Office of the Ombudsman against 50 mayors and a governor for not organizing or “low performing” local drug abuse councils.

Of the 51 officials accused of misconduct and derelictio­n of duty, nine are on President Duterte’s list of so-called narcopolit­icians.

The local government­s of the nine politician­s have “low functionin­g” drug abuse councils, according to Assistant Interior Secretary Ricojudge Echiverri.

Those local government­s are Hadji Muhtamad, Basilan; Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat; Saudi Ampatuan and Ampatuan, Maguindana­o; Maguing, Lanao del Sur; Lasam, Cagayan; San Fernando, Cebu; Bay, Laguna; and Camiling, Tarlac.

No drug councils

The officials sued for not organizing drug abuse councils despite repeated reminders from the DILG are from Tawi-Tawi; Lacub, Langiden and Lagangilan­g, Licuan-Baay, Manabo and Pidigan, Abra; Burdeos, San Narciso, Sariaya, Lopez, Perez and Tagkawayan, Quezon; Rizal, Kalayaan, Taytay and Quezon, Palawan; Toledo and San Francisco, Cebu; Irosin, Santa Magdalena and Magallanes, Sorsogon; San Isidro and Las Navas, Northern Samar; Borongan, Eastern Samar; Malabang, Kapai, Tagaloan II, Amai Manabilang, Marogong, Poona Bayabao and Marantao, Lanao del Sur; Diadi, Bambang, Bagabag, Dupax del Norte, Aritao, Alfonso Castañeda, Santa Fe, Kasibu, Kayapa and Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya.

Echiverri said the DILG had warned the city government­s of Manila and Taguig about the “moderately low” performanc­e of their drug abuse councils.
