SEPTUGENARIAN SUFFERS STROKE MONTHS AFTER WIFE IS HIT BY A MOTORCYCLE DRIVER

-

Two months after his wife, Bella, underwent surgery for a knee injury caused by a motorcycle driver, Angelito De Ausen suffered a stroke.

Since May 11, the 73-year-old former overseas worker has been in the intensive care unit of Perpetual Help Medical Center in Las Piñas City.

Aside from a blood clot in his head and irregularities in his heartbeat, he also developed pneumonia, prompting doctors to put him on oxygen support.

“My dad was 100 percent dependent on the ventilator but now, it’s down to 40 percent as he has started breathing on his own. Doctors are observing the blood clot in his head but for now, they don’t see the need to operate on it,” the retired couple’s only child, Charles, told the Inquirer.

Charles said that for now, doctors are focused on treating his dad’s pneumonia. “After that, he needs to undergo an angiogram followed by either an angioplasty or a bypass, depending on his heart condition. Based on the estimate doctors gave us, we will need to prepare a minimum of P500,000 for an angioplasty,” he added.

As of May 20, his father’s hospital bill has reached over P400,000, excluding doctors’ fees. Charles, a full-time freelance fitness instructor who is the sole breadwinner in the family, appealed to Inquirer readers for help.

“My dad has a long way to go in his recovery. After an angioplasty or bypass, he will need to undergo extensive therapy. I am very close to my dad. He is the extension of my life,” he said.

Charles can be contacted at 0977-1353676. Those who want to help his father can deposit their donations in his BDO account (Charles B. De Ausen, account number: 007570145809).
