SWATCH LAUNCHES ‘ATTACKS’ ON MANILA
Swatch Cities aims to provide visibility and support to young creatives
Inspired by the exciting environment of the city, and as part of its 30th anniversary in the Philippines, Swiss watchmaker Swatch has brought its Swatch Cities project to Manila.
Swatch Cities, launched in Madrid in 2018, aims to provide visibility and support to young creatives. The goal is to contribute to their artistic formation while leaving a mark on the playground to spark imagination and expression.
#Swatchmemanila kicked off on Sept. 28 with two simultaneous celebrations in Makati City that gathered Manila’s creative who’s who, from soughtafter young artists to A-list celebrities and social media stars.
Swatch ambassadors Anne Curtis, Matteo Guidicelli, Nico Bolzico and Luis Manzano led the party at the Swatch Building in Arnaiz Avenue, Makati City, where they also unveiled the new colors of the Big Bold collection in Candy, Navy, Neon and Cream.
The Big Bold collection, initially introduced early this year, was inspired by the urban lifestyle of the young generation. The watches feature 47 millimeter-wide, lightweight plastic watch cases with silicon straps.
Taking after the urban feel of the Big Bold collection, Swatch, led by Direk Rowell Santiago, transformed the vibe at Boogie Manila, one of the newest and coolest bars in the hip neighborhood of Poblacion, from just a regular night out to a creative experience.
The first in a series of “Swatch Attacks,” a series of activities that aim to celebrate the young talents of Metro Manila, graffiti artists and other street performers surprised the unsuspecting guests of Boogie Manila with an on-the-spot showcase of urban artistry.
“The future of Swatch Me Manila is colorful. The ‘attack’ in Makati tonight is just the first stop in this creative and inspiring journey,” says Michelle Zenarosa, Swatch Philippines brand manager.
A lot of exciting activities are in store for #Swatchmemanila until 2020, including murals and art installations all over the city, dance competitions, exciting pop-up activations and a series of digital videos.
