- By Dona Z. Pazzibugan @dpazzibuganinq

Moscow—controversial preacher Apollo Quiboloy, who refers to himself as the “appointed son of God,” has descended on predominantly Orthodox Russia.

Quiboloy, founder of Kingdom of Jesus Christ sect and a longtime friend of President Duterte, joined the official delegation in the Kremin tour on Friday afternoon.

He was with the President and his party during the formal wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin gates.

Looking at rebuilding

On Thursday, the President said at the Valdai Discussion Club forum that he wanted to rebuild the Orthodox Church in the Philippines.

“I’m planning to invite the Russian Orthodox missionaries to come to the Philippines so that we can look for a place where we can build the Orthodox Church. It was built many years ago by the Russians, 1922. This was destroyed. It’s an old dilapidated…,” he said before he was finally cut short after talking for over 20 minutes, to give way to the open forum that focused on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Other entourage members

Aside from Quiboloy, also seen in official Moscow functions were Speaker Alan Cayetano of Taguig, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, Marinduque Rep. Lord Velasco, Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Rey Villafuerte, former Speaker Quezon City Rep. Feliciano Belmonte of Quezon City and Minority Leader Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante.

Sen. Bong Go, the only senator in the delegation, joined select Cabinet officials in bilateral meetings with Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The other officials seen in the Philippine-russia Business Forum on Friday were Gov. Suharto Mangudadatu of Sultan Kudarat and Gov. Bai Mariam Mangudadatu of Maguindanao, and Rizal Gov. Rebecca Ynares and former Rizal Gov. Casimino Ynares Jr.
