SCUFFLE AT A WAKE, INDECENT PROPOSAL AND A BRIDAL ‘LOTHARIO’

-

“Twitter is the new ‘The Buzz,’” someone wrote on Twitter Oct. 17, a day when netizens feasted on scandals of different sorts.

There was that near-scuffle between the Barretto sisters at the wake for their father. There were also the screenshots of actor Alex Diaz’s supposed indecent proposal to fitness coach Miguel Chanco.

Personalities outside showbiz were also in the news. Top wedding videographer Jason Magbanua became a trending topic because of allegations by a Facebook user who called herself Jaime Dy.

In the post, which originally appeared in a Facebook group called Budget Wedding Suppliers Philippines and was later shared on Twitter, Dy wrote about how she met Magbanua during a wedding in 2015 where she was a bridesmaid and he was the videographer.

The post alleged that the two had a fling and that Dy learned she had gotten pregnant around the time she discovered that he had an ex-wife and a girlfriend.

Dy alleged that Magbanua refused to acknowledge their child, who had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. “I curse him for being a rotten person, an irresponsible father,” she wrote.

Dy also mentioned three other women Magbanua allegedly had affairs with, including a bride whose wedding he shot in Boracay.

Magbanua posted a statement on Twitter on Oct. 18, claiming that Dy is “a fabricated persona with a fabricated story.” He wrote, “How do you fight a ghost? An anonymous account who’s been harassing you, your family, your friends and clients for the past four months.”

He defended the other people whom Dy mentioned in the post. “Do you also have a vendetta against them? You have been messaging them, too, right? Threatening them? Keep the vitriol to me. Not to others. ’Wag ka na mandamay.”

He added, “Hindi ito hugas kamay. I’m not a saint. The hardest lessons are learned through the hardest ways. The most painful ways.”

In S06E60 of Mo Twister’s podcast “Good Times with Mo,” which dropped last Aug. 19, he had a female caller who shared a similar tale.

The woman, who called herself Miranda, claimed that she met Magbanua at a tech event in 2016 where he was brand ambassador.

She claimed that they then connected on social media, flirted and began sleeping together “twice, thrice a week for almost a year” despite her knowing Magbanua had an exwife and a girlfriend.

She also claimed she got pregnant and told him about it. “He was like, I don’t want to be a part of this, and he went away.” She claimed she had a miscarriage a couple of weeks later.
