Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Wednesday said he would suspend 99 barangay chairs should they be proven to have failed to comply with the government’s order to clear their areas of obstructions within 60 days.

“The moment we receive the recommendation of DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government), we will suspend [them] before the city council. I told them that President Duterte is serious about his directive given to the DILG… They were given ample time. They were given enough information,” Domagoso said in an interview.

The DILG on Tuesday said it would issue show cause orders against 99 barangay chairs in Manila who would be given five days to explain why they failed to clear the roads under their jurisdiction.
