An intimate art deco-themed luncheon was recently held at the Taal Vista Hotel—one of the many activities that the historic destination in Tagaytay has been launching year-long to celebrate its 80th anniversary.

The “As Time Goes By” luncheon held at the Taza Fresh Table features a one-of-a-kind seven-course meal, enjoyed with rich stories for each dish from the Commonwealth era, up to the 21st century. Some of the dishes include adobong dilaw sa pan de bulilit; lumpiang sariwa with pancit buko; and Bukidnon wagyu strip steak, among many others.

Taal Vista Hotel general manager Richard Gamlin welcomed guests with a talk that highlights the establishment’s contributions and significance in the tourism industry, as one of the pioneering hotels in the country and the very first in Tagaytay City.

The hotel’s 80th anniversary is dubbed “Here, For Always,” which underscores its long history—and an even more colorful future.

Taal Vista Hotel opened its doors on October 7, 1939. It quickly became the prime lodging and recreational establishment in Tagaytay, thanks in part to the city’s cool climate and proximity to Manila.

In 1998, tycoon Henry Sy acquired Taal Vista Lodge through SM Investments Corp. (it was renamed to its current brand in 2003).

Today, the 80-year-old grand dame of Tagaytay features freshly renovated Ridge and Mountain Wing guest rooms, with Instagram-ready attractions, family-friendly

activities and promotions that appeal to all genres from the Baby Boomers to Generation Z.

Earlier this year, the hotel held an art fair that featured both up-and-coming and wellknown local artists, a music festival with some outstanding local talents, and outdoor film showing featuring top charting classic films from the 1930s, to modern times at the Ridge.

To further mark the special occasion, Taal Vista is also extending several promos for its guests. There’s the Seniors’ Suite Saver promo (valid until November 7), which includes an overnight accommodation in the spacious One Bedroom Batangas Suite or One Bedroom Deluxe Suite for three adults, buffet breakfast for three adults and two kids at the Veranda all-day dining, 20-percent discount at Veranda or Taza Fresh Table, 15percent discount at Cake Shop and Lobby Lounge, complimentary extra and more, all for as low as P10,880.

There’s also the 80th Anniversary Super Flash Sale (valid until November 15), which includes room accommodation for two nights, buffet breakfast for two adults and two children, seven years and below, 20-percent discount at Veranda all-day dining or at Taza Fresh Table, and much more—all for P8,080.
