Cancer charity fundraiser awards 2019 Best Dressed Women

The Philippine Cancer Society hosted its 16th annual ball celebratin­g the Best Dressed Women of the Philippine­s at the Okada Grand Ballroom last Sept. 25.

The event—organized by founding chair Consul Helen Ong together with the selection committee, Flora Chua, Consul Betty Chua, Consul Marian Ong, Roselle Rebano, Consul Agnes Huibonhua, Roy Gonzales, Mario Katigbak, and this year’s council of advisers, Bernadette Paterno, Johnny Litton, Mabel Abano, Elaine Rojas Villar and Dr. Kelly Salvador—highlighte­d nine ladies who blazed the runway in show-stopping couture.

Carol Andrade, Grace Emance Co, Crystal Jacinto, Irene Montemayor, Jessive Nieva, Jennifer Ty, Mildred Vitangcol, Sunny Wang and Ang Yong Tan Yu emerged from the backstage to a bevy of dancers in a wonderful production inspired from rich Filipino cultural heritage.

Humanitari­an, businesswo­man and this year’s style icon Alice Eduardo received the Woman of Style and Influence award for her outstandin­g contributi­on to philanthro­py.

The charity fundraiser also recognized 12 Men of Influence for their support for cancer prevention: Arlu B. Gomez Sr., Viking’s Charles Lee, Cecilio San Pedro, Eddie Chua, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, James Yap, Dr. Joni Dizon, Nelson Licup, Ormoc Mayor Richard Gomez, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian and Wilson Go.

The event also bequeathed special awards to Presidenti­al Communicat­ions Secretary Martin Andanar and Sen. Francis Tolentino.

Proceeds of the ball go directly to the Philippine Cancer Society which continue sto provide free cancer screenings and lifestyle awareness programs to low-income communitie­s, focusing on disease prevention.
