CRUISING WITH BENTLEY’S CENTENNIAL CONTINENTAL GT

- By Alvin Uy

The beautifully crafted Portofino blue Bentley Continental GT comes with a new 6.0 liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine, a new, wider and lower body and yet it retains the ageless and classic lines of its predecessor model. The foot is the first to notice how effortless unleashing the power of the GT was and how linear the power can be when all of its 12 cylinders are fully engaged to its 8-speed dualclutch automatic transmission. With 635 horsepower and 900Nm of torque, the GT is capable of going from zero to 100kph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 333 kph.

Cruising along the Skyway along SLEX makes it feel like its gliding on four wheels. Thanks to its variable displacement technology, it allows one entire bank of cylinders to disengage at gentle throttle openings, reducing the number in operation to six and optimizing fuel consumption accordingly, without the driver even noticing.

With the GT, having supercar powers doesn't mean one cannot ride in comfort and in style. Inside, the minimalist seats are streamlined and ergonomically designed for maximum comfort and lumbar support, considering how fast these cars can go. Its cockpit is well-embellished with luxurious finishing and intuitive layout, allows easy access and control of all its cooling, heating, ventilation and even massage functions.

With four driving modes that can be controlled with the turn of a dial, the new Continental GT is the most advanced Bentley model, featuring innovations throughout the drivetrain.
