‘RAMON’ MAKES LANDFALL ON SATURDAY

Tropical Depression “Ramon” will bring rains over parts of the country on Wednesday, as it is seen to further intensify and eventually make landfall by the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Tropical cyclone wind signal No. 1 has been raised over Eastern Samar province and the eastern portion of Northern Samar, as the weather disturbance slowly moves westward.

As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the center of the storm was spotted 670 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar. It packed maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

On Wednesday, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains may be expected in the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Samar and Eastern Samar. The provinces of Romblon, Marinduque and southern Quezon will experience light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains.

Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren said Ramon was expected to strengthen into a tropical storm and, without changes in its forecasted track, may make landfall on Saturday over Isabela or Aurora.
