The precursor of the National Bureau of Investigat­ion (NBI) was created on Nov. 13, 1936 by virtue of Commonweal­th Act No. 181. The agency was originally called the Division of Investigat­ion before it was reorganize­d into the Bureau of Investigat­ion in June 1947 through Republic Act No. 157. It was renamed the NBI by virtue of Executive Order No. 94 issued on Oct. 4, 1947. The NBI main office is on Taft Avenue in Ermita, Manila. —MARIELLE MEDINA, INQUIRER RESEARCH
