MONTBLANC WRITERS EDITION PAYS TRIBUTE TO RUDYARD KIPLING
Montblanc’s Writers Edition celebrates great literary figures and its latest limited-edition series pays tribute to fictionist and poet Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936), beloved author of “The Jungle Book,” the famous collection of stories about human archetypes in animal form which has been adapted into film several times over.
One of the most popular writers in the United Kingdom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kipling had a lasting impact on the world of literature as a major innovator in the art of the short story. He was the first English-language writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 42.
Crafted in Montblanc Ateliers, the design of the limitededition writing instrument is inspired by “The Jungle Book” and “If,” perhaps Kipling’s most famous poem.
Precious matte resin of the cap and barrel in “jungle” green mirrors the color of the cover of the first US edition of Kipling’s masterpiece.
Clip in the shape of a wolf’s head is a reference to the wolf pack responsible for the upbringing of the orphan human boy Mowgli, teaching him all the valuable lessons in life.
Cap ring and cone ring are engraved with words from his poem “If”: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs… you’ll be a man, my son.”
Au750 solid gold rhodium coated nib is decorated with a desk globe, symbolic of Kipling’s travels as a travel correspondent and a regular traveler.
Initials “RK” featured on the cap of the Fountain Pen, Ballpoint, Rollerball and Mechanical Pencil come from an original letter purchased by Montblanc, featuring extremely rare handwritten initials.
To complement the pens, there are a new khaki-colored ink inspired by the jungle, as well as a khaki Italian calfskin notebook featuring a printed design of the wolves.
A single pen pouch is decorated with graphic motifs from the collection.
