KPMG R.G. Manabat & Co.’s Risk Management Partner awarded with PICPA’S Outstanding CPA in Public Practice Award
With an outstanding record and remarkable contributions in the field of Accountancy, KPMG R. G. Manabat & Co. Risk Management Partner Ma. Gracia Casals-diaz has been granted with the prestigious Outstanding CPA in Public Practice award by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). She received the award during the Awarding Ceremonies of the 74th PICPA Annual National Convention held on 21 November 2019 at the San Agustin Church of Paoay, Ilocos Norte.
This award is given to a PICPA member whose excellent performance and achievements have promoted the accountancy profession and whose national impact contributed to the prestige of the organization.
Diaz also received the PICPA Outstanding CPA in Government Service in 2009 and the Young Achiever in Government Service award in 2003.
Diaz’ extensive experience spans across various services and industries including corporate governance, internal audit, financial reporting, capital markets, risk management, among others. She was the General Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2007 to 2014, where she led the adoption of the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and Philippine Standards on Auditing and other global standards and practices on corporate governance and capital market.
She is currently a member of the Philippine Interpretations Committee that technically supports the Philippine standard-setting body, the Financial Reporting Standards Council and a member of the PICPA Ethics Committee that spearheaded the local adoption of the latest IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants.
Diaz is both the Chair of PICPA’S Annual Business Meeting Committee and the Accountancy & By-laws Committee of the PICPA Metro Manila Region. She is likewise active in the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Public Practice being the Chair of the 2019 Professional Development Committee-metro Manila, and the Chair of the 17th and 18th Annual National Convention Resolutions.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Capital Market Development Council, a public-private initiative that aims to recommend policy and legislative reforms for the development of the Philippine capital market.
