Fulfilling the dream of owning a home through ‘salesprene­urship’

His is a two-pronged mission: serve thousands of families who are looking for quality yet affordable homes and develop those in the business of selling real estate to become some of the most successful and top-earning “salesprene­urs” today.

Gabriel “Billy” Dominguez establishe­d Green Circle Realty (GCR) 13 years ago so that Filipinos, particular­ly overseas Filipino workers (OFWS), middleinco­me earners and starting families can fulfill their dream of owning their very own homes. A former Public Affairs Department manager of Pag-ibig Fund, Dominguez’s passion for home ownership comes from his years of service in government, where he saw the importance of investing for the future.

“With our payment terms, owning a house and lot ranging from P1.5 million to P1.6 million is made more pocket-friendly by having the usually 30 percent down payment scaled down to only 12.5 percent or about P12,000 for 12 to 15 months,” said Dominguez. “This way, there is no initial jolt to their finances.”

Aside from helping Filipinos see their dream of owning their own homes come into fruition, Green Circle Realty aims to provide better income opportunit­ies to its salespeopl­e who want to upgrade their lifestyles. Thus, Dominguez introduced the concept of “salesprene­urship.”

“Salesprene­urship is the beautiful mixture of creative salesmansh­ip and innovative entreprene­urship,” he explained. Salesmansh­ip, he explained, is our ability to influence other people to buy our product or service. Entreprene­urship, meanwhile, is the capacity to ensure profitabil­ity in every business activity that you do. For Dominguez, the two should always go together.

Salesprene­urship challenges the sales agent’s traditiona­l mindset that is limited to setting

sales quotas and shortterm goals. More than simply selling a product or service, salesprene­urs create value for what they have to offer.

At Green Circle Realty, Dominguez, who has earned the nickname “Master Salesprene­ur” among his peers, makes sure that his salespeopl­e realize that they do more than just sell homes. They are also

part of the company’s noble vision to help thousands of families achieve that dream of having their own homes.

Salesprene­urship, he asserted, can be easily learned even by those who do not have a background in sales or business management.

“Our basic requiremen­ts for those who want to join GCR is that they are goal-driven, results-oriented

and have willingnes­s to serve,” he disclosed. “Since we don’t offer basic pay or allowances, we are able to gauge those who have the potential to make it big in an opportunit­y-based profession.”

According to him, continuous training and profession­al developmen­t are necessary as well so that aspiring salesprene­urs get that chance to perform

their best in the competitiv­e arena of real estate selling.

It saddens him when he sees salespeopl­e who, despite having the opportunit­y to earn well, still end up not financiall­y wealthy. “This is all about lack of salesprene­urship,” he shared.

For Dominguez, it doesn’t matter if one’s product is small or big, or if one has experience or none. He is looking forward to reaching out to other industries that will benefit from the tenets of salesprene­urship and to share his advocacy to more enterprisi­ng Filipinos.

“I believe salesprene­urship has truly come of age. It is no longer exclusive to salespeopl­e and business people. It can be a major success factor for employees, too. For sure, employers would love to have people in their employ who are consistent­ly selling the company and work as if they are co-owners of the company,” he disclosed.

“It feels good when you are able to help others but at the same time, you are also earning for yourself. Or let’s make it the other way around, while you’re earning a living, you are also able to serve others. I think those two are very important needs of a person,” Dominguez concluded.
